Thomas Viaduct Middle School

Hanover, Maryland
Located in the newly planned community of Oxford Square, this middle school is an adaptation of the County's prototype middle school design. The traditional design aesthetic of Oxford Square required the use of traditional building materials and design elements for compatibility with the surrounding community. Rainwater on the roof is captured in underground rainwater harvesting tanks and used to irrigate the ballfields. The mechanical system is a geothermal system, which among other green design features, helps contributes to this project being a LEED Silver certified school.
