Wilde Lake Middle School

Columbia, Maryland
(Net-Zero Energy Design)
The new Wilde Lake Middle School will replace the existing Wilde Lake Middle School. The school system has elected to take advantage of the Net Zero Schools Initiative Grant provided by the Maryland Energy Administration to significantly reduce energy consumption and to produce the balance of the energy required to run the building with the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels located on the school's roof and site. The Energy Use Index (EUI) of this school design is less than 25 kBTU/sf which is less than half the energy consumed by energy code requirements. Construction is scheduled to be complete by January 2017.
